Description

Delicious chocolate cookies with a festive twist of candy canes.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Gently fold in mini chocolate chips and crushed candy canes.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto prepared baking sheets about two inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are set but centers remain soft. Cool on baking sheets for five minutes before transferring to wire racks.
